Mangalmurti Apartment, AMC’s venue for sapling distribution event today, is a micro-containment area
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has organised a sapling distribution programme to mark the World Environment Day on Friday. It will be inaugurated by Chief MinisterVijay Rupani via video conference . Mayor Bijal Patel and State revenue minister Kaushik Patel will be present at the venue. Ironically, the venue is a micro-containment zone where, as per rules, there cannot be free movement across the ‘borders’ or any other activity except those that can be classified as essential.
Patel had tweeted on Thursday about the programme at Mangalmurti Apartment inNaranpura . This society was declared a micro-containment area on May 31. When asked about her visit to the place for a public function , Parel said, “It (Mangalmurti Apartments) is a big area . Only some part is the society is in containment. We have organised the function in the common plot, which is outside containment area”
Dinesh Sharma said, “BJP does not understand the meaning of containment areas. Their plan to hold the programme in amicro-containment area only reflects their ignorance.”
As per a state government release, AMC will distribute 5 lakh saplings of holy basil (tulsi) this year to mark the day. However, keeping in mind the current circumstances, only 50 saplings will be distributed on Friday.
