City markets now have a list of weekly off days

Noida/Greater Noida: The district administration on Wednesday evening finalised the weekly off days for markets. Although the off days are usually decided by the labour department every year in December, a decision to issue fresh orders now was taken since shopkeepers have been asking for clarity to resume operations after the lockdown is lifted.
Deputy labour commissioner, Gautam Budh Nagar district, PK Singh said: “Shopkeepers have agreed to follow the odd-even system and half the markets will remain shut on odd days and the other half on even days. Implementing the system for seven days in a week was difficult hence, we took the decision.”
While 70 markets cater to residents in Noida, 20 markets are in Greater Noida and the outskirts of the district.
Busy markets in Noida, like Harola, Barola, Nayabans and Nithari and markets in sectors 15 and 16, would remain shut on Mondays.
Atta and Bhangel markers, apart from markets in sectors 27, 28, 29, 59 and 67 would remain shut on Wednesdays. In Greater Noida, Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Jagat Farms markets would be shut on Mondays. Automobile shops, car showrooms, accessories shops, and service centres across the district will remain shut on Tuesdays.
