Representative imageKOLHAPUR: Solapur district guardian minister Daata Bharne has asked the administration to take stern legal action against private hospitals that are refusing to treat non-Covid patients.
Bharne, along with other officials, visited private hospitals on Wednesday, in view of the increasing number of complaints that non-Covid patients are not being admitted or treated by them.
The minister also instructed the district administration to register an offence against few doctors of a private hospital who did not resume work even after government instructions.
Guardian minister’s stern warning comes in the wake of continuous surge in Covid-19 patients. The number of patients has crossed the three-figure mark, but has only 128 ventilators that are needed for the treatment of critical patients.
Health department officals said the existing infrastructure is inadequate in view of the increasing number of patients, which has forced the district administration to issue an order for the requisition of the private hospitals.
