The Italian Tourist Board recently announced that British visitors would finally be allowed to travel to the country once again. The travel restrictions were lifted on June 3 and travellers from Britain are now allowed to enter Italy with no required quarantine restrictions. The country also started to open for members of the public from May 18.
Italy has already opened up local tourism attractions, parks, and museums, as well as bars, restaurants and ice cream shops. All openings are now following a set of stringent new guidelines and protocols that adheres to all required social distancing measures at all times. Gyms, swimming pools and sports centres have also reopened towards the end of last month.
Beach resorts have been opened especially for the British visitors but new safety guidelines are being followed to ensure the safety and security of every individual who would be in the country to enjoy the beautiful Italian coastline. Britons would also be allowed to enjoy the flavour of Italian culture starting June 15 as theatres, concert halls, cinemas and other outdoor spaces are also set to reopen once again.
However, pre-assigned and spaced seats are required for all performances. It is also mandatory for both staff and spectators to follow social distancing measures. A maximum of 1,000 spectators is allowed for outdoor shows and around 200 people have been allowed for indoor performances. It is also mandatory for all visitors of Italy to wear a mask or face covering in enclosed spaces including public transport or any area where exercising social distancing measures remain impossible.
Flavio Zappacosta, Manager, Italian National Tourist Board, U.K. & Ireland, said in a statement that it is of utmost importance for Italy to open for business as soon as it is safe to do so as the tourism industry is one of Italy’s key economy drivers. He mentioned that authorities are aware of Italy’s popularity among British travellers and hence they are hoping to inspire them to start a plan and to book an Italian holiday for the year.
