30 more people test positive for COVID

The state continued to report new cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19), as 30 more people tested positive for the COVID-19 pandemic on Friday, taking the total number of active cases to 131 in the state.

As many as 26 of the 30 new cases were reported from a locality in Mangor Hill, which is a containment zone in Vasco.

The remaining eight cases are of the people who had travelled recently to Goa from Dubai by a Vande Bharat repatriation flight.

Fortunately, eight active COVID patients recovered from the disease on Friday and were placed under quarantine as per the protocol.

Earlier, a total of 82 cases were recorded at Mangor Hill. With the new 26 cases in the area, the total number of confirmed cases of the COVID-19 in the containment zone has gone up to 108.

All the new 30 COVID positive patients were shifted to the ESI Hospital in Margao, which is designated for treating COVID patients.

The directorate of health services in its media bulletin stated that the condition of all the patients is ‘stable’.

Till date, Goa has seen 196 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 131 are active while 65 patients have recovered from the disease.

As per the DHS media bulletin, 19 new suspected cases of dreaded COVID-19 reported in Goa on Friday.

All the 19 patients were quarantined in the isolation ward at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.

The DHS informed that of the 2170 samples drawn for examination on Friday, 1023 tested negative, 30 tested positive while reports of the remaining 1117 samples are still awaited.

The DHS has placed around 735 people under quarantine facilities at various residencies and at different hotels across the state.
