More rain, thunderstorm likely today in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Light rain accompanied with gusty winds up to 44km/per lashed the city on Thursday, bringing respite from hot and humid conditions.
While Uttam Nagar and Vikas Puri received light shower, Kalkaji and Tughlaqabad Extentions, Govindpuri, among others witnessed drizzle for about 15 minutes.
Till 8.30am, Safdarjung recorded 0.5mm rainfall, while Lodhi Road saw 0.4mm . Till 5.30pm, Safdarjung and Lodhi Road recorded traces of rainfall, while Aya Nagar saw 0.3mm shower. Till 8.30pm, Safdarjung saw trace of rain, while Palam saw 0.8mm rainfall.
“A fresh western disturbance has started effecting northwest India from Wednesday. South westerly winds (through Rajasthan) along with the formation of low pressure in Arabian Sea and its movement towards Gujarat coast are bringing moisture to Delhi and northwest India. Their combined effect will result in rainfall till Friday,” a Met official said, adding that no heatwave condition is expected in the region till June 10.
On Friday, generally cloudy sky is expected with light rain or thunderstorm. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 34 and 24 degrees, respectively.
