FALL RIVER -- The execution of a search warrant on Wednesday resulted in the arrest of a Fall River man on drug and gun charges.
Fall River police detectives were conducting pre-search warrant surveillance at Plymouth Avenue and Tecumseh Street and saw Dwayne Parrish, 47, approach the intersection and interact with a man on a moped.
Police approached Parrish and detained and searched him, finding one small plastic bag containing suspected heroin, 1 gram, according a press release from Fall River Lt. Jay D. Huard.
Police then searched Parrish's residence at 770 Plymouth Ave., second floor, and found a small amount of heroin, two digital scales, several empty plastic bags, and a Kahr magazine containing six live cartridges of ammunition (.40 caliber), according to the release.
In the basement of the apartment building, police found a .40 caliber Kahr Arms firearm and a Sentry safe, the release states. Inside the safe police found five round Kahr magazines containing five live cartridges (.40 caliber), a pistol holster, seven live cartridges (.40 caliber) in a box and 50 live cartridges in an ammunition case.
Parrish does not possess and a valid license to carry or FID card, police said.
Parrish was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Possession of a Class A substance, and firearm violation with two prior violent/drug crimes.
Vice and Intelligence Unit detectives were led by lead investigator Detective Joshua Robillard.
