More than 6 lakh 27 thousand claims have been received in the state under the Forest Rights Act. Out of these, more than 2 lakh 68 thousand claims have been accepted and Forest Title Deeds (Lease) of the occupied land have been distributed to 2 lakh 57 thousand claimants. Process to distribute Forest Title Deed in the remaining 10 thousand valid claims is underway. Over 3 lakh 60 thousand claims of Forest Rights have been rejected due to various reasons in the state. These rejected claims are being re-examined through M.P. Van Mitra Portal.

The claims under the Act are being disposed of online through Van Mitra Portal. So far profiles of secretaries of 20 thousand 794 Gram Panchayts have been updated on the portal and new as well as rejected claims for re-examination have been submitted online by 35 thousand 724 claimants. These claims are being disposed of by Village Forest Rights Committees, Sub-Block Level Committees and District Level Forest Rights Committees. A roadmap has been prepared by the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department for redressal of the claims. A programme has been prepared to dispose of the claims in the state by June 30, 2020.

The State government is trying to ensure that no eligible claimant of forest rights of the state is deprived of his/her right to forest. Directives have been given to the Forest Department and Revenue Department to make available the documents to the claimants, needed in support with their claims. Ample opportunities for hearing are also being provided to the claimants while disposing of the claims through Van Mitra portal. The Forest rights claims in the state are being disposed of in form of a campaign.
