25 new cases, Noida’s Covid count crosses 500

Noida/Ghaziabad: The number of Covid-19 cases in Noida crossed the 500-mark on Wednesday to reach 521, with 25 more cases, of whom five were healthcare workers from one hospital and five were police officers. The five health staff are from the district hospital in Sector 30 and all are residents of Sector 31. On Monday and Tuesday, two others from the hospital had tested positive and 10 other cases with links to the hospital had emerged earlier.
“There is no segregation, barrier or shielding done at the district hospitals for patients from hotspot areas. All patients roam freely all over the hospital, posing a threat of infection. While a staff nurse posted in the emergency ward tested positive on Monday and was admitted at Child PGI, on Tuesday, a radiologist tested positive from a Delhi lab. She had been attending to patients, including from hotspots, as they are not being segregated here,” said a senior doctor from the hospital. There were four patients in the emergency ward where the nurse who tested positive was deployed. They have been moved to the second floor (medical/general ward) of the hospital.
Of the five police officers, three were posted at the control room on the premises of the traffic police office. About 20-25 officers posted there and in the office of the additional DCP will be moved and the control room will be sanitised. So far nine cops have tested positive in Noida.
