McCarthy named principal of Kuss; Pontes to be assistant superintendent

FALL RIVER – Superintendent Dr. Matthew H. Malone has appointed Ron McCarthy as the new principal of Matthew J. Kuss Middle School effective July 1, according to a press release.

"McCarthy is an experienced Massachusetts school leader, having served as a high school principal at Dedham High School, Bourne High School and at Duxbury High School," the release states. "He has held teaching, district, and vice-principal positions in Winthrop, Middleboro, and Duxbury."

McCarthy was selected by a search committee seeking a successor to principal Maria Pontes, who now joins the Fall River school district's leadership team as assistant superintendent of schools. She led Kuss Middle School for the past three years.
