LUCKNOW: In the span of last four days, Lucknow police’s cybercell has received over 20 complaints from shopkeepers who have allegedly been swindled by a group of four men visiting stores to purchase products of daily use.
Talking to TOI on Wednesday, ACP, cyber cell, Vivek Rajan Rai said, “So far, the same pattern has been observed in 12 of 20 complaints.”
“Four men visit a grocery shop in a blue SUV with a registration number from Delhi,” Rai said.
“They buy goods of daily use worth at least Rs 1 lakh and pay via e-wallet and send a link to the shop owner’s number. However, instead of the money getting credited in the traders’ account, the amount is debited,” he said.
Rai said cops are scanning CCTV footage from four locations to crack the case. He said such cases were usually reported from Indiaranagar, Mahanagar and Gomtinagar.
