As countrywide protests continued in the United States against the custodial killing of American-African man George Floyd, several iPhones were stolen from various Apple stores in the city as burglars broke into the showrooms. However, the company did not easily give up on the incident and let go off their devices as they have been successful in tracking down a few phones.

Till now, the company has tracked down the different retail stores in New York, Minneapolis, Washington, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. A message popped up on the screens of the Apple devices which have been looted from these retail sites. The message read as: "This device has been disabled and is being tracked. Local authorities will be alerted."

On social media, these people were informed that the phones they have stolen from the stores were already blocked and locked.

Apple was working to open over 100 stores in the US, closed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Motley fool stated, "On the device was a message alerting the user that the iPhone is disabled and should be returned to the store. It's not clear if Apple or law enforcement plans to do anything with the data it collects."

The reports produced previously asserted that that device has a secret software installed, that locks the iPhone whenever someone steals it from any of the Apple stores. All these claims have been proven as this incident took place.

Due to the protests wreaking havoc in the country over the death of Floyd, various Apple stores in Los Angeles, Washington and New York have been devastated, vandalized and looted.

Many retailers like Target, Amazon's Whole Foods and Walmart have ceased their operations or are working for limited hours.

However, Apple had ensured maintaining safety and social distancing as it reopened around 256 stores out of 500 across the world.

CEO's of topmost technology companies have decided to provide assistance and come forward to express their solidarity and sense of unity for the African -American society. Tim Cook, CEO of Apple expressed his condolences on the situation where he stated the sorrow and agony that the nation is going through and the suffering engraved in the hearts of millions of people.

In a letter to the employees, Cook said, "To stand together, we must stand up for one another, and recognize the fear, hurt, and outrage rightly provoked by the senseless killing of George Floyd and a much longer history of racism."

"That painful past is still present today e not only in the form of violence, but in the everyday experience of deeply rooted discrimination," he further added. He also said that he has witnessed some development in the present US than the one he grew up in, "but it is similarly true that communities of colour continue to endure discrimination and trauma".

Cook said, "At Apple, our mission has and always will be to create technology that empowers people to change the world for the better."

"For all of our colleagues hurting right now, please know that you are not alone, and that we have resources to support you," he added in the memo.
