PUDUCHERRY: A 40-year-old guest worker from Bihar was murdered by two teenagers in a drunken brawl at Nettapakkam in the outskirts of Puducherry on Tuesday night.
The victim was Pramod Kumar Singh of Kaimur district in Bihar, a crane operator in a steel industry at Nettapakkam. He had joined the factory four months back.
Superintendent of police (west) B Ranganathan said Pramod Kumar was sent out of the factory around 12 noon on Tuesday after he was found drunk during duty hours. He visited a nearby arrack shop, consumed liquor and left around 5pm. He came to the shop again at 7pm and found the shop closed.
When he was returning, he saw two teenagers consuming arrack on the roadside. He requested them for a drink. But the two refused. An enraged Pramod slapped one of them, and snatched his liquor. The two attacked him and stabbed him on the neck, stomach and the limbs and fled. The man died on the spot.
