As the Central and state governments allow phase-wise relaxation in curbs to get the life up and running again following over two months of lockdown to prevent the spread of Covid-19, we bring you the latest updates from your city.

*The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has delayed rejuvenation of four important lakes and the Buckingham Canal in Chennai.
* Update at 10.15am: Record single-day spike of 9,304 Covid-19 cases takes India's tally to 2,16,919; toll reaches 6,075 with 260 deaths, reports PTI quoting health ministry
*With the state government easing some restrictions, the Greater Chennai Traffic police have started to strictly implement social distancing measures for all motorists.
*Liquor outlets in core Chennai may be opened
Months after Tasmac liquor shops in Chennai and its suburbs were shut as part of the lockdown, indications are that the shutters could be up soon.
*As the number of cases in Royapuram zone exceeded the 3,000 mark on Wednesday, Greater Chennai Corporation is set to intensify its decongestion plans for the zone and shift more residents to either wedding halls or corporation community halls, even if they are healthy and not showing any symptoms.
*Tamil Nadu asks for 60 trains to send 1 lakh workers home
The Edappadi K Palaniswami government will request Southern Railways to operate 60 more special trains from different parts of the state in the next one week to send back more than a lakh guest workers home. The government has spent more than Rs 30 crore to facilitate the travel of 3.1 lakh guest workers since May 6.
