Sand artist’s heart-wrenching tribute to pregnant elephant killed with a firecracker in India

A pregnant elephant was killed after eating a pineapple full of firecrackers when it strayed into a village in east India on May 27.

India's renowned artist Sudarsan Pattanaik paid tribute to the elephant and her unborn calf in the sand.

The mother elephant died near the Silent Valley National Park in Palakkad, Kerala.
