DIBRUGARH: The district administration on Tuesday night sealed the medicine block of the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) following detection of two Covid-19 patients at the SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Infection) ward of the medicine department.
The detection of the two cases has thrown the medical fraternity into a tizzy as both patients had earlier tested negative for Covid-19 during their stay at quarantine facilities. Following the test results, seven doctors, two nurses and a ward boy of the medical college have been put under quarantine, while their swab samples have been collected. Along with the two positive cases, 58 other patients were undergoing treatment at the medicine ward. They also have been isolated and had their swab samples taken.
"The two persons had recently returned from other states. One came from Mumbai and another returned from Chennai. One underwent the seven-day mandatory facility quarantine at Charaideo and the other at Dibrugarh. Since they had mild fever-like symptoms, they were tested twice and both times the results came negative. After their release, they also underwent home quarantine.
