As the Central and state governments allow phase-wise relaxation in curbs to get the life up and running again following over two months of lockdown to prevent the spread of Covid-19, we bring you the latest updates from your city.
*Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation issued a show-cause notice to Bodyline Hospital, Paldi for charging a patient referred by SVP Hospital Rs 4,500 as a Covid test fee. The patient, Hansa Parmar, had to run form one hospital to another before she was admitted.
*After being shut to devotees for more than two and-a- half months due to the coronavirus pandemic, temples across Gujarat like the Dwarkadhish temple, Somnath temple, Ambaji temple, Jagannath temple and many others are ready to open to a ‘new normal’ from June 8.
*Update at 9.16am: India reports 9,304 new Covid-19 cases & 260 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total number of cases in the country now at 2,16,919 including 1,06,737 active cases, 1,04,107 cured/discharged/migrated and 6,075 deaths: Ministry of health and family welfare (ANI)
Gujarat in 24 hours ending 5pm on Wednesday added its highest single-day tally of 485 new Covid-19 cases --one coronavirus case was detected every three minutes.
Ahmedabad district crossed 13,000 cases – 13,063 – with 290 cases in 24 hours whereas Surat recorded 77, Gandhinagar 39, Vadodara 34 and Banaskantha 10 cases.
Gujarat also recorded 30 deaths in 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 1,122. Only Maharashtra and Gujarat have so far recorded more than 1,000 deaths of Covid-19 patients.
Ahmedabad, which is one of the worst Covid-19 affected cities with fourth highest corona positive cases, recorded a silver lining of having the highest recovery among major Indian cities.
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on Wednesday stated that out of 12,525 Covid-19 positive patients recorded till June 2, 8,889 or 71% have got discharged. Ahmedabad has only 22% active cases.
