HYDERABAD: A pregnant woman stuck in Sharjah is seeking the help of union external affairs minister S Jaishankar to return home to Hyderabad.
The 21-year-old woman Zeba Farooq had gone to Sharjah on a visit visa but got stuck there due to lockdown. “As she is pregnant and the delivery is expected to take place soon, she needs to travel back to India immediately,” social worker and MBT leader Amjed Ullah Khan said while bringing her matter to the notice of the union minister. He also asked that the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi be asked to help her travel back.
Meanwhile, another person from Hyderabad, Mohammed Abdul Lateef, has run into problems in Abu Dhabi because of the Covid19 situation and lockdown. Lateef was removed from his job on May 17 and is facing problems for accommodation and also food.
In a letter, to an IT company that he was working for said he was being terminated because of the impact the global pandemic had on business. The company has written to the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Consulate General of India in Dubai to help him return to India as the company would need to cancel his visa and also his insurance and therefore he would not be able to remain in the country for long. It said Lateef wishes to exit as an emergency due to loss of employment and his health condition.
