KALYAN: A day after Kalyan based Erande family's entire house badly got damage in Cyclone Nisarga, a Shiv Sena corporator Mahesh Gaikwad from area has come forward and made financial help of Rs 51,000 to them.
Gaikwad on Thursday visited victim Raju Erande's house and handed him a cheque of Rs 51k.
On Wednesday due to cyclone impact around 39 trees either collapsed or their branches collapsed in Kalyan-Dombivli damaging several houses and vehicles parked on roadsides.
In such an incident one huge tree collapsed in to slum house of Raju Erande living with his four family members at Katemanivali area in Kalyan (East).
Erande told TOI, "He alongwith his wife, parents and daughter was inside home when suddenly tree collapsed due to heavy wind caused by the cyclone damaging the house badly".
Erande said luckily due to support of a iron rod in house they managed to survive with no injuries.
Upon learning about incident, Mahesh Gaikwad who is corporator from another ward came forward and made financial help of Rs 51,000 to Erande family and assured them that he will also help them to get financial help from state government if any help is declared for cyclone Nisarga victims.
After getting cheque Raju Erande was seen happy. He told TOI, "Due to lockdown already my salary has stopped and I was worried how I will repair my house but due to Gaikwad's help now atleast I can repair it".
