NEW DELHI: Shares of Coal India Ltd. traded 0.85 per cent down in Thursday's trade at 11:41AM (IST). Around 125,933 shares changed hands on the counter.

The stock opened at Rs 141.7 and touched an intraday high and low of Rs 142.5 and Rs 140.05, respectively, in the session so far. Shares of the company of Coal India Ltd. quoted a 52-week high of Rs 270.9 and a 52-week low of Rs 119.25.

Total market cap of the Coal India Ltd. stood at Rs 86647.96 crore at the time of writing this report.

The company reported 11.2 per cent decline in production at 41.43 million tonne in May.
The company had produced 46.69 million tonne of coal in May 2019. In a statement the PSU said "CIL as whole produced 41.43 million tonne (MT) of coal in May 2020.

Key Financials
The company reported consolidated sales of Rs 21566.41 crore for the quarter ended 31-Dec-2019, up 13.59 per cent from previous quarter's Rs 18986.5 crore and up 7.78 per cent from the year-ago quarter's Rs 23385.43 crore.

The net profit for latest quarter stood at Rs 3923.87 crore, down 14.08 per cent from the corresponding quarter last year.

Shareholding pattern
As of 31-Mar-2020, DIIs held 9.41 per cent stake in the firm, while foreign institutional investors held 8.2 per cent and the promoters 66.13 per cent.


Valuation ratio
According to BSE data, the stock traded at a P/E multiple of 4.79 and a price-to-book ratio of 3.23. A higher P/E ratio shows investors are willing to pay a higher price because of better future growth expectations. Price-to-book value indicates the inherent value of a company and is the measure of the price that investors are ready to pay even for no growth in the business.
