BENGALURU: Pre-university lecturers have demanded that the state government either de-centralise the evaluation of science subjects answer scripts or postpone it until the state returns to normalcy, failing which, they would boycott the process altogether.

The Karnataka Pre University College Lecturers’ Association made the demand on Wednesday, raising concerns about the risk of contracting Covid-19 during travel and evaluation itself. While the evaluation of other subjects is being carried out in 34 centres in eight districts, science subjects will be evaluated in Bengaluru alone, starting Thursday. The lecturers’ association has said that only 20 per cent of lecturers are in Bengaluru and that it would be difficult for the rest to get to the state capital.
