Delhi govt says entire focus is on saving lives
- The Delhi government's entire focus is on saving people's lives and ensuring adequate facilities for COVID-19 patients who need hospital care, without getting entangled in data or any competition with other states, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Thursday.
- He said private hospitals that have been asked by the government to reserve 20 per cent beds for coronavirus patients will be converted into dedicated COVID-19 facilities if they fail to comply with the order by Friday.
- Earlier, the Delhi government had asked 61 private hospitals to reserve 20 per cent beds for COVID-19 patients.

- The total number of COVID-19 cases went up to 9,237, principal secretary of health Amit Mohan Prasad said.

Scientists identify distinct trait in coronavirus in India
- Scientists at the CCMB, Hyderabad have identified a distinct trait in the coronavirus.
- This trait was found in the people infected in the country, mostly in the southern states of Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
- They have named this unique cluster of virus population as 'Clade A3i' found in 41 per cent of the genome sequenced in India.
- The results show a distinct cluster of virus population, uncharacterised thus far, which is prevalent in India.
- This cluster seems to have originated from an outbreak in February 2020, and spread through India.
- This comprises 41 per cent of all SARS-CoV2 genomes from Indian samples, and 3.5 of global genomes submitted into public domain.
- The CCMB is a laboratory under the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

Bhubaneswar senior citizens get exclusive time in parks
- BMC has reopened public parks in Odisha and reserved a two-hour slot in the morning exclusively for senior citizens.
- People aged 60 years and above will be allowed in the parks only between 5 am and 7 am.
- All other age groups are prohibited during this time slot.
- The parks will remain open from 5 am to 10 am and from 4 pm to 6 pm on the five weekday.

- Authorisation was recieved for Elecsys IL-6 test to help identify severe inflammatory response in patients with confirmed COVID-19.

- Results show that hydroxychloroquine was no better than placebo pills at preventing illness from the coronavirus.
- The drug did not seem to cause serious harm, though, about 40% on it had side effects, mostly mild stomach problems.
Haryana to start school teaching in July
- Colleges and universities will start in August.
- Schools will reopen in a phased manner by starting teaching work for Classes 10, 11 and 12 from July 1
- Classes will begin for VI, VII, VIII and IX after 15 days and for the primary classes in August.
- The classes will be held in shifts.
- Meanwhile, the Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) announced that Class 10 results will be declared on June 8.
CM Yogi's state plane to bring Covid-19 machines from Goa
- The state plane is VT UPM Hawker, used exclusively by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
- It will now be used to transport TriNet machines for corona testing from Goa.
- This is the first time that the state plane has been authorised for medical use.
- On June 9, the plane will fly to Goa to bring the consignment of 34 machines.
