Chris Trousdale has died. He was 34 years old.
The dancer and singer, best known for being in the band Dream Street in the late 90s and early 2000s along with Jesse McCartney, died on 2 June from an "undisclosed illness". "He was a light to so many and will be missed dearly by his family, friends and fans all over the world," a statement read on his official Instagram account.
According to People, in the comments section of another post a woman by the name of Jane Gagle who worked with the star later that he died "after a horrible battle with [an] acute strep infection that shut down his body".
"Chris was in a coma, on life support when he passed," she said.
Jesse McCartney later shared on Instagram that his bandmate and friend has passed away "due to complications from Covid-19".
"Chris had an explosively charming personality with boundless amounts of talent," he said.
"My deepest sympathies go out to his mother whom I know cherished him dearly. RIP Chris. I'll never forget your smile."
Though the 34-year-old only formed part of the band Dream Street for a few years before they disbanded, he'd already started his career in show business long before that, appearing on Broadway in The Sound of Music, Beauty and the Beast, The Wizard of Oz and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
He also appeared in numerous television shows in recent years including Days of Our Lives, Shake It Up, Austin & Ally and Lucifer, and released a single, Summer, just last year.
