BENGALURU: KPCC president DK Shivakumar’s eldest daughter Aishwarya may marry Cafe Coffee Day founder late VG Siddhartha’s son Amartya Hegde around October this year.
Aishwarya, a 22-year-old engineering graduate, is looking after the administration of Global Academy of Technology founded by her father. The US-educated Amartya, 26, manages the family-run businesses with his mother Malavika.
With this, the longstanding relationship between former chief minister SM Krishna and Shivakumar will be cemented further.
Shivakumar told TOI: “They say marriages are made in heaven. It’s all god’s wish. We need to wait for completion of one year after Siddhartha’s passing away before proceeding on the marriage.” Shivakumar was close to Krishna’s son-in-law Siddhartha, who died on July 31last year.
The wedding was being discussed even before Siddhartha’s tragic end as the families were waiting for an appropriate time to take it forward. The two families reportedly met on Sunday at Shivakumar’s house in Sadashivanagar and finalised the proposal in the presence of Krishna and Siddhartha’s wife Malavika.
As per tradition, no auspicious events are held within a year of the passing away of a family member. Sources said the engagement may be held in August. The alliance will be the secondhigh profile wedding in recent times after HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy married Congress leader M Krishnappa’s grandniece Revathi.
