Back Roads: Nullarbor Plain
ABC, 8pm
Heather Ewart once more takes the road less travelled, traversing the mighty Nullarbor to discover how the other half lives – the other half being that much-less-than-half of the country that dwells outside the capital cities. This sweet and gentle program, now entering its sixth season of delving into the outback, unearthing and celebrating tales of hidden humanity, provides little in the way of drama or thrills, but plenty in the way of heart and low-key feelgood vibes. The star of this episode is the Nullarbor itself – a stunning landscape that reminds one of just how vast and mysterious our homeland is.

Have You Been Paying Attention
Ten, 8.40pm
More comfort-food telly from HYBPA, with the usual jolly and slightly daggy banter between seasoned professionals that has proven to be spun gold for Ten, combining TV execs' two favourite words: popular and cheap. In fraught times, a show like HYBPA can be both a blessed relief and a risky enterprise – the more deadly serious the news gets, the trickier making jokes with broad appeal about it becomes. But the Working Dog team's famed ability to belie its meticulous professionalism with productions that feel loose and effortless rarely lets it down, and the show is hellbent on keeping it light.
