Mumbai: One more fireman dies of Covid-19, fifth in last two weeks

MUMBAI: Another fireman posted at Kurla fire station died of Covid-19 on Wednesday. He was admitted in Nair Hospital after he tested Covid-19 positive few days ago.
In last two weeks, five Mumbai fire brigade personnel have died of Covid-19.
Over 50 firemen were found Covid-19 positive in the last two months -- around 17 of them are recuperating in hospitals and 20 are quarantined.
Firemen are engaged in massive fumigation drive across the city, including the virus-affected areas.
For sanitisation, fire brigade engaged 17 quick response vehicles, 16 mist blowing machines. They are visiting Covid-19 hospitals, containment zones, government office buildings and other areas for sanitisation. Till last Saturday, they had sanitised 7,742 building, slum clusters, and containment zones, which includes 368 hospitals-nursing homes, 275 BMC office-building, bus depot, police stations. Also, they have sanitised 7,016 common areas in containment zone and its vicinity.
Fire officials stated that they are taking all the precautions and provided separate personal protection equipment to firemen engaged in sanitisation work and for attending non-fire emergency calls.
