The police of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district confirmed the death of three terrorists who were said to be a part of the militant group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). The terrorists were shot to death by security forces in the second encounter which took place in Pulwama district in the last 24 hours.

This operation was jointly conducted by the state police who were informed beforehand in Kangan Murran village of Pulwama, which is located in the southern region of Kashmir, Indian Army's Rashtriya Rifle and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officers.

One of the deceased could be a commander holding a high rank in the JeM terrorist group and has been actively ravaging in South Kashmir, sources said

Jammu & Kashmir's director general of police, Officer Dilbag Singh confirmed that the identities of the three killed terrorists have been discovered.

Police have not been revealing the identities of the terrorists who have been assassinated in the last few weeks to avoid further ruckus, the bodies of the dead are not being buried in their native villages and only family members are being allowed to part take in the funerals.

Earlier on Monday, three heavily-armed terrorists were encountered along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district's Nowshera sector. They had the intention of sneaking inside the boundary of the country but police forces were alerted near Kalal village which then led to a gunfight, officials confirmed.

Later on Tuesday, two other terrorists were shot in the Tral area of Pulwama district. These terrorists were local people, sources said. They were killed in a gunfight which started after a search party was sent to the region by a joint team of the army from Saimoh village and the local state police. Two AK-47 assault rifles were captured from the site.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 and the enforcement of lockdown, 44 terrorists have been shot in encounters in Jammu and Kashmir.
