An avid pet lover and advocate for animal rights, actress Anushka Sharma while still under quarantine at home recently called for ‘harsher laws’ against animal cruelty when news spread of a pregnant elephant’s death in Kerala after she was fed a pineapple stuffed with firecrackers surfaced online. Sharing a screenshot of the news clip, the actress wrote, ‘This is why we need harsher LAWS against animal cruelty!’ According to reports, the fruit had exploded in the elephant's mouth, leading to her death, while still standing in water. In what could probably be termed as one of the most barbaric acts of cruelty against animals, other celebrities like Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Randeep Hooda, Shraddha Kapoor and Athiya Shetty slammed the act, demanding for those responsible to be brought to justice.
