The CLP meeting was attended by all 21 MLAs.SHIMLA: Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has decided to launch agitation against chief minister Jai Ram Thakur led government on the issues of alleged irregularities in the health department.
In the CLP meeting attended by all 21 MLAs, including former chief minister Virbhadra Singh, it has been demanded that BJP government should release white paper on all the purchases made in the health department including those of medical colleges and chief medical officers during last two and half years.
CLP also demanded that state government should conduct special audit of purchases made and funds collected during Covid-19 pandemic. CLP has also demanded the resignation of chief minister for failing on all fronts.
CLP leader Mukesh Agnihotri said that during the meeting all the members were of the opinion that chief minister Jai Ram Thakur has failed to curb corruption in the health department which becomes evident with the recent PPE kits, sanitizers purchases and now even purchases of ventilators are being questioned. “CLP has demanded that for scams during Covid-19 pandemic, sedition charges should be slapped against those responsible,” he added.
He said that after PPE kit purchase scam came to light, BJP state president Dr Rajeev Bindal surprisingly resigned on high moral ground while Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur who is also the health minister did not. He said that high level probe needs to be done to check the purchases of health department as earlier a letter was circulated in the social media in which serious allegations was levelled on the health department.
Agnihotri said that CLP was also of the opinion that chief minister must tell the people of state why health minister was changed and why Bindal has resigned. He said on one side Covid-19 positive cases are on rise while on other hand chief minister is floating the idea of turning state into quarantine destination. He said that special session of state assembly should be called as state government has failed on all fronts.
