The Maldives is reopening to visitors; however, anyone with a super yacht or private jet can already head to the tourist hotspot, but normal travelers will have to wait for a few more weeks to reach there.

The tourism board for the Maldives, which closed its borders in March, has announced a step-by-step reopening that expects incoming flights to its main international airport to restart next month.

“We are planning to reopen our borders for visitors in July, 2020,” said an official statement issued by the Ministry of Tourism.

The statement said that guests would not be charged any additional fees.
So far, the Maldives has witnessed almost 2,000 confirmed cases and five deaths from COVID-19.

Previously, tourism officials suggested that the popular honeymoon destination would reopen towards the end of this year, but now, they are considering an earlier rebound. They would consider reopening tourism facilities with proper safety and health measures in place.
