Wednesday (3 June) marks 25 years since the infamous 'Battle of Boet' contest between the Springboks and Canada during the 1995 Rugby World Cup in Port Elizabeth.

It was an ill-tempered affair which saw Springbok hooker James Dalton and Canadian counterparts - captain Gareth Rees and prop Rod Snow - sent off after a mass brawl broke out at Boet Erasmus.

In a video clip below, South Africa's Hennie le Roux, who came on as a flyhalf replacement, and Canada centre Christian Stewart recall the match on rugby writer Brenden Nel's YouTube channel.

Stewart played 14 Tests for Canada between 1991 and 1995 and would later also play three Tests for the Springboks in 1998.

The match, which was also delayed by 45 minutes due to a floodlight failure, was won 20-0 by South Africa.
