Terrified UberEats driver who was savagely attacked by a stranger while sitting a bus stop reveals how he outwitted the armed thug and fled to safety

An UberEats driver who was savagely attacked by a knife-wielding stranger while sitting at a bus stop has revealed how he outwitted the thug.

Karan, 20, was waiting for his next job in Wentworthville train station, western Sydney, at about 10pm on May 18 when he was fly-kicked and threatened at knife-point. 

'Money, money, money,' the attacker could be heard shouting in CCTV footage. 

While shocked, Karan kept calm and explained he did not have cash on him, but that he would withdraw some from an ATM nearby.

The robber threatened Karan with a larger knife as they walked up the street. 

'He also told me, don't do any stupid thing – don't run or anything like that (or) I'll stab you,' the driver told 9 News

When they arrived at the nearest Commonwealth ATM, Karan asked the thief if they could walk to another machine to avoid being slugged with bank fees.

He used the opportunity to escape to a nearby Pizza Hut and asked staff to phone police.

The thug ran back to the bus stop to steal Karan's scooter, delivery bag and wallet.

The incident was captured on CCTV. 'Money, money, money,' the attacker shouted in the footage

The scooter has since been found, but the thief is still at large.

A police investigation is underway, with officers urging anyone who saw the incident to come forward.

They shared footage and pictures of the assault, including one which appears to show the bottom half of the offender's face. His eyes are covered by a black cap and hoodie. 

He is described as being Pacific Islander/Maori in appearance, 178cm tall, with an athletic build, according to a police statement.
