Over 50,000 evacuated in Gujarat, Daman ahead of cyclone
Nearly 50,000 people living in coastal areas of South Gujarat and some 4,000 residents of the neighbouring Union Territory of Daman have so far been shifted to safer places ahead of the approaching cyclonic storm 'Nisarga', officials said on Wednesday.
Police have been deployed on all the beaches in Gujarat's coastal belt and people have been asked to remain indoors, they said.

Cyclone: Maharashtra DyCM urges coastal residents to stay indoors
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Wednesday urged people from the states coastal belt to remain in safer places in view of the cyclonic storm Nisarga, which is likely to make landfall in the afternoon.
Pawar said people should not step outside home till the intensity of the storm fades.
People from Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts should remain in safer places, considering the landfall cyclonic storm Nisarga is set to make near Alibaug from Arabian sea, a statement quoted Pawar as saying.

HC allows ship anchored at Mumbai port to move to safer waters
The Bombay High Court has permitted cruise ship M V Karnika, currently anchored at the Mumbai port after being placed under arrest, to move to safer waters outside the city in view of the cyclone Nisarga which is set to hit the Maharashtra coast on Wednesday afternoon.
The vessel was placed under arrest on March 17, 2020 following a financial dispute between owners of the vessel.

All fishing boats return to shore ahead of cyclone Nisarga
All fishing boats which were out in the sea off Palghar coast have returned ahead of the cyclone 'Nisarga', which is set to make a landfall at Alibaug in neighbouring Raigad district of Maharashtra on Wednesday afternoon, an official said.
As many as 577 fishing boats from Palghar had earlier gone out in the sea and till Monday evening, 564 came back.

Gujarat braces for cyclone Nisarga; thousands evacuated from coast
Nearly 43,000 people living near the coastline in Gujarat's Valsad and Navsari districts have so far been shifted to safer places as the state prepares to face the approaching cyclonic storm 'Nisarga', officials said on Wednesday.
As many as 13 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and six teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed at different locations, the state government said in a release.
Five more teams of NDRF have also been called in, the government said.

Mumbai: Trains rescheduled, diverted due to cyclone Nisarga
The Central Railway has resheduled, diverted and regulated some trains from Mumbai in view of the cyclonic storm 'Nisarga' which is set to make a landfall at Alibaug in Maharashtra on Wednesday afternoon.
Five special trains departing from Mumbai have been rescheduled and three special trains will be either diverted or regulated enroute, the Central Railway (CR) said in a release.

Cyclone 'Nisarga' will make landfall along the Maharashtra coast today with high wind speed ranging up to 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph besides heavy rainfall and storm in Mumbai and other coastal areas of the state, the Home Ministry said.
