Five boats have been engulfed in flames at a Gold Coast marina overnight after two people allegedly threw petrol on and set it alight.

Emergency services were called to the Hope Island Marina about 11.15pm on Tuesday after reports of the blaze.

Police will allege two people were seen throwing petrol on one of the boats and setting fire to it, with four others damaged in the blaze that followed.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

Detectives are asking those who may have seen anything in the area in the hour after 10.30pm to come forward.
