Cyclone Nisarga live updates: Mumbai witnesses heavy rain; trees, polls uprooted

Cyclone Nisarga has made landfall near Alibaug on the Maharashtra coast and the "process" will be completed by about 4 pm, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday. The landfall process started at around 12.30 pm. It made landfall about 40 km from Alibaug, 95 km from Mumbai. Stay with TOI for all updates.

Indian Coast Guard mobilises eight teams

Cyclone Nisarga: Hundreds living near Mumbai beaches being evacuated

Hundreds of people living close to various beaches in Mumbai are being shifted to safer places on Wednesday in light of cyclone 'Nisarga' which has made landfall near Alibaug, 95 kms from here, police said. Mumbai Police and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are taking all precautionary measures to minimise any damage likely to be caused by the cyclone, an official said.
