Over 48,000 domestic passengers handled by Mumbai airport since May 25

MUMBAI: Mumbai airport saw a total of 6,247 passengers which included 4,400 passengers at departures and 1,847 at arrivals on Tuesday.
The airport had 25 arrivals and 25 departures to 14 cities, operated by seven airlines. The highest passenger load capacity was seen on the Delhi route departing out of Mumbai, said a Mumbai International Airport Ltd spokesperson. The first flight departed to Kolkata at 6.05am while the first flight arrived at 8.10am from Lucknow which was operated by SpiceJet and IndiGo, respectively.
In the past one week since domestic air travel was restarted on May 25, a total of 391 flights, including 196 departures and 195 arrivals were operated out of/into Mumbai. By Monday, a total of 42,503 passengers had flown, which included 31,665 passengers at departures and 10,838 at arrivals.
The passenger load capacity has been the highest on Mumbai - Delhi route with 8,130 passengers on departure flights, said MIAL. Currently, only a maximum of 25 departures and 25 arrivals daily has been permitted by the government. On Monday, GoAir joined other airlines and restarted operations from Mumbai with three departures and three arrivals to Patna, Lucknow, and Varanasi route carrying 320 passengers at arrivals and 538 passengers at departures, the MIAL spokesperson added.
``The airport maintenance staff ensures effective sanitization and disinfection of the entire terminal buildings, including the vital and high touch point areas. The airport continues to undertake precautionary measures, including screening of departing passengers, maintaining 2 meters of social distance, and wearing masks,’’ said the MIAL spokesperson.
