The Election Commission of India has announced a new date for the biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha, amid the growing infection of the corona virus in the country. Now these elections will be held on the 19th of this month. On the same day elections will be held for three Rajya Sabha seats of Rajasthan.


Four candidates from the state are in the fray for these three seats. KC Venugopal and Neeraj Dangi from Congress and Rajendra Gehlot and Omkar Singh Lakhawat from BJP.

Giving information about the election program, Chief Electoral Officer Anand Kumar said that as per the scheduled schedule, the voting will be held from 9 am to 4 pm on June 19, 2020. The counting of votes will take place on the same day at 5 pm. It is to be noted that earlier these elections were to be held on March 26, 2020, but they were postponed due to Corona virus infection.
