Punjab: Pregnant woman, Anganwadi worker among three tested Covid-19 positive in Sangrur

PATIALA: Three persons including a pregnant woman and an Anganwadi-worker had tested positive of the coronavirus on Tuesday taking the tally to 105 cases so far in the Sangrur district.
A 55-year-old woman of Kakra village who is an Anganwadi-worker had tested positive of the virus however the health authorities are trying to locate the source of infection to the woman. They said that the source of an infection contracted to the health care worker was yet to be identified however the process to trace out her contacts was initiated.
The health officials revealed that a 28 years old woman of Bakhopir village of Bhawanigarh division in Sangrur who was five-months pregnant and had recently returned from Delhi where she got stuck following the imposition of lockdown is another patient confirmed with the virus. Similarly, another patient has been identified as a 37-year-old man of Nandgarh village. He was a combine-worker and had recently returned from Gujarat.
So far, In Sangrur, 4610 samples have been sent for testing of which 4495 have tested negative and 105 tested positive whereas the results of five samples are awaited. The health authorities claimed that only 12 cases are active and the remaining 93 have been treated and sent back home. Around 2039 persons having interstate or intra-state travel history and 57 international passengers have been quarantined.
In Fatehgarh Sahib, a 44-year- old man of Ajnali village who returned from Delhi recently also tested positive for the virus. The tally of positive cases has reached 64 in the district of which only seven cases are active.
Similarly, in Patiala, an NRI returned from Kuwait has tested positive of Covid-19 infection thus taking the tally to 127 positive cases so far of which only 16 cases are active.
