‘Tesla Clone’ Xpeng Has A Website Just Like Tesla’s

Not long after Tesla accused China’s Xpeng of using its Autopilot source code, it has emerged that Xpeng’s website looks remarkably similar to Tesla’s.

Xpeng has previously admitted to being influenced by Tesla and is believed to have been the first car manufacturer to make the most of Tesla open-sourcing their patents. However, the web page being used to promote the all-electric Xpeng P7 sedan has angered some Tesla enthusiasts who claim it looks strikingly similar to the web page for the Tesla Model S.

All it takes is a quick glance at the two websites to realize just how similar they are, Electrek notes. Xpeng’s landing page for the X7 includes a full-screen photo of the P7 driving along a piece of open road. The site for the Tesla Model S also features a similar full-screen image, shot from a virtually identical angle. Directly below the Model S are three key statistics (acceleration, luggage space, and range) while Xpeng’s website for the P7 also lists a handful of specs below the hero image.

That’s not all. Scroll down on the Xpeng website and you will be presented with an image of the P7’s chassis while a number of technology and safety features are also listed. Similarly, if you scroll down on the Tesla Model S website, it also includes an image of the EV’s chassis and body.

This is not the only time questions have been raised about Xpeng, with some referring to the brand as a ‘Tesla clone.’

Order books for the Xpeng P7 opened back in April with the first deliveries scheduled to take place later this month.
