2021 Bentley Bentayga Facelift Aims To Make A Stodgy Old Brit A Bit Sportier

It’s been months since spy photographers last snapped the facelifted Bentley Bentayga, but it’s back on the street getting ready for its big debut later this year.

Caught undergoing testing in Germany, the ultra-luxury crossover is instantly recognizable but features a host of subtle changes.

While the grille and headlights are disguised, it appears they will resemble the ones used on the new Flying Spur. The model will also feature a sportier front bumper with larger air intakes and restyled fog light surrounds.

The changes are less noticeable out back, but it appears the Bentayga will be equipped with taller taillights as well as a modified rear bumper. The tailgate also appears new, but that’s likely just a distraction caused by the camouflage.

Spy photographers haven’t managed to get interior pictures yet, so it remains unclear how extensive the changes will be. However, even at the minimum, we can expect an updated infotainment system and possibly some new driver assistance systems.

Engine options are expected to carryover, so there will likely be a familiar twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 pumping out 542 hp (404 kW / 550 PS) and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque. It should be joined by a twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 with 600 hp (447 kW / 608 PS) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. We can also expect another Bentayga Speed with the aforementioned W12 developing 626 hp (467 kW / 635 PS) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque.

Lastly, there should be an updated plug-in hybrid model. Details are limited, but the current Bentayga Hybrid has a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine, an electric motor and a 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This gives the model a combined output of 443 hp (330 kW / 449 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. The crossover also has an electric-only range of 18 miles (29 km) according to the EPA.
