UP assistant teacher recruitment counselling to begin from June 3
The counselling session for the Assistant Teacher Recruitment Test (ATRE) will begin from between June 3 and June 6.

LUCKNOW: After multiple court cases, Uttar Pradesh’s basic education department finally declared the final results for the much-awaited recruitment of 69,000 assistant teachers in state primary schools late on Monday. Based on merit, the top 69,000 candidates have also been allotted their joining districts. With this, the counselling will begin from between June 3 and June 6.
The merit is prepared on the basis of the candidates’ educational qualification and their performance in the Assistant Teacher Recruitment Test (ATRE), results of which were announced on May 13. Of the 1.46 lakh who qualified the test, 1.36 lakh have applied online for appointment.
The basic education council clarified that the name in the merit list doesn’t guarantee the appointment. In the first phase, counselling for top 69,000 candidates will be done. On the seats left vacant in the first round, next set of candidates will be called for counselling.
The Assistant Teacher Recruitment Test (ATRE) was held on January 8, 2019. The answer key was uploaded on January 18 for objections. Close to 22,000 candidates have raised objections on 142 questions out of 150 asked in the test. After scrutiny, experts found three out-of syllabus questions asked in the test.
The process was stalled as few candidates approached the court challenging state government’s decision of raising the cut off for general and reserved category applicants from 45% and 40% to 65% and 60%, respectively.
On May 6, the Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court HC upheld the state government’s decision and set the ball rolling for recruitment of 69,000 assistant teachers in the state. The final results of ATRE was announced on May 13, after which the basic education department compiled the final results.
