CHANDIGARH: UT administrator V P Singh Badnore will take a call on opening clean pockets of Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26, in a crucial meeting on Tuesday.
Sources said UT adviser Manoj Parida will first hold a meeting with a committee comprising municipal commissioner, district magistrate, senior superintendent of police, director health services, sub-divisional magistrate (east), state surveillance officer and superintendent of police on the issue.
Later in the day, the adviser will brief Badnore about the committee's recommendations, and accordingly a final call will be taken.
Parida said the administration will take a call on opening of clean pockets of Bapu Dham that come under buffer zone of the colony on Tuesday.
Sources said the administration has made a proposal to open unaffected and clean pockets of Bapu Dham. The colony, which has turned into a Covid-19 hotspot in a city with over 200 positive cases, has 20 pockets, in which 60,000 people are staying. Two pockets have been declared containment pockets. The remaining fall under buffer zone. In all these 20 pockets, the UT has restricted entry and exit. There are more than 15 pockets in the colony, which has not witnessed any positive case.
