New Delhi: Coronavirus Live Updates: The number of deaths due to novel coronavirus rose to 5,598 in India on Tuesday with 204 more fatalities, while 8,171 new cases took the number of infections to 1,98,706, the Health Ministry said. The active cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) climbed to 97,581 and as many as 95,526 people have recovered and one patient has migrated, according to the data.
Around 48.07 per cent patients have recovered so far, a ministry official said.
Out of the 204 more deaths since Monday morning, 76 were in Maharashtra, 50 in Delhi, 25 in Gujarat and 11 in Tamil Nadu. Eight people each died of COVID-19 in West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh, followed by six in Telangana, and four each in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
India is now the seventh-worst hit nation by the COVID-19 pandemic after the US, Brazil, Russia, the UK, Spain and Italy, according to the WHO's coronavirus tracker.

The amphibious transport dock INS Jalashwa entered Tamil Nadu's V O Chidambaranar Port in Tuticorin with embarking fellow Indians stuck in Sri Lanka for months following lockdown due to global pandemic COVID-19.
Coronavirus news: Special train with over 1,200 migrants leaves Indore for Bengal
A ''Shramik'' special train carrying 1,250 stranded migrant workers left Indore in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday for Bardhaman in West Bengal, a Western Railway (WR) official said.
The train is scheduled to halt at Bhopal to pick up nearly 350 more labourers during its journey via Durgapur and Asansol, he said.
The Madhya Pradesh government has made arrangements to send back migrant workers from West Bengal stranded in different parts of the central Indian state due to the coronavirus-driven lockdown since March 25.
These workers were hired primarily by cosmetic industry in Indore, the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on May 17 had
written a letter to his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee, asking her to request the Railway Ministry to run special trains to ferry stranded migrant workers from his state.
COVID-19 news: 41 new cases in Uttarakhand
A total of 41 new cases have been reported in Uttarakhand, as per information provided by the State Health Department.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state has climbed to 999, including 746 active cases, reported news agency ANI.
While 243 people have recovered after treatment in the state so far, seven deaths have been reported.
Coronavirus news: Complaint filed with Goa police against fake COVID-19 message
Taking cognisance of a fake social media message regarding the coronavirus spread in Goa, the state government has filed a complaint with the police under the Epidemic Diseases Act, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said on Tuesday.
He said a message was being circulated on a social messaging application with his picture, reported news agency PTI.
"The fake message talks about recovery of patients and how community transmission has begun in Goa," Mr Rane said.
I would like to reiterate to people that this is a very sensitive time and rumour-mongering will not be tolerated, he said and warned of a strict action.
"A complaint in this regard has been filed with district collector and local police considering the Epidemic Diseases Act," he said in a statement.

Naval vessel INS Jalashwa reaches Tuticorn with stranded Indian nationals from Sri Lanka Tuticorin
Indian Navy's INS Jalashwa arrived at the VO Chidambaranar Port in Tamil Nadu's Tuticorin at 10 am on Tuesday and has initiated the process of disembarkation of 685 stranded Indian nationals that it was carrying from Colombo.
The disembarkation sequence would begin with differently-abled people first followed by women and thereafter district-wise commencing with Chennai.
All the evacuees disembarking at Tuticorin port will undergo another round of medical check-ups at the port.
Yesterday the embarkation completed around 17:30 hours followed by registration and evacuees were escorted to their respective living areas, demarcated for male and female passengers. Jalashwa sailed at 1900 hours to repatriate the Indian nationals.
Five Delhi Police personnel from Anand Parbat area test positive for COVID-19
Five personnel of Delhi Police from Anand Parbat area of the national capital have tested positive for coronavirus, Delhi Police officials said on Tuesday.
Notably, two Delhi Police personnel died of coronavirus between Saturday and Sunday, taking the total number of deaths in the police department due to the virus to three since May 5.
More than 500 police personnel in the national capital have reportedly tested positive for coronavirus so far.
Manipur reports 2 new COVID-19 cases, state count at 85
Manipur reported two new COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking the total number of corona patients to 85. As per the State government, out of 85 coronavirus cases in the state, 74 are active.
Both the patients are being shifted to COVID-19 care facility at RIMS, and their condition is stable. Necessary precautionary measures such as containment and contact tracing are in place, said the government.
The total number of cases in the country now stands at 1,98,706 including 97,581 active cases, 95,527 cured/discharged/migrated and 5,598 deaths.
2 deaths, 171 more COVID-19 cases in Rajasthan
Two deaths and 171 more cases of COVID-19 were reported from Rajasthan till 10:30 am today, as per information provided by the state Health Department.
Out of the 171 new COVID-19 cases, 70 have been reported from Bharatpur, 34 from Jaipur, 23 from Jhalawar, 12 from Jodhpur, 10 each from Alwar and Kota, four each from Dausa and Jhunjhunu, two from Churu and one each from Dholpur and Tonk.
According to the Rajasthan Health Department, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state has reached 9,271, including 201 deaths.
US records 743 coronavirus deaths in 24 hours
The United States on Monday recorded 743 new coronavirus deaths in 24 hours, according to the Johns Hopkins University tracker, bringing its total to 105,099 since the global pandemic began.
The country has officially logged 1,809,109 cases of COVID-19, the tracker set up by the Baltimore-based university showed at 8:30pm (0030 GMT Tuesday).
The death toll and number of cases in the United States are by far the worst in the world.
The virus has killed at least 373,439 people around the world since it appeared in late 2019 in China, according to a report compiled by AFP from official sources.

COVID-19 Lockdown: Bus services resume in Gujarat after almost two months
After a gap of almost two months, state transport and city buses resumed operation across the state on Monday across Gujarat.
A city bus service manager told news agency ANI that a fleet of 50 buses started on Tuesday. "50 city buses started today. 17 passengers are being allowed in our 34-seater buses and 20 passengers in our 40-seater buses," he said.
Also, religious places, hotels and restaurants, malls will be allowed to open in the state from June 8 after SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are prepared.
12 more COVID-19 cases in Mizoram, says Chief Minister Zoramthanga
Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga on Tuesday informed that 12 more people have been found positive for coronavirus in the state.
Taking to Twitter, the Chief Minister further stated that all the patients have been put under professional care.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has launched a month-long drive, as part of "Mission Fateh", to spread awareness about COVID-19.
He urged the people of Punjab to follow social distancing norms, wash hands properly and wear face masks to make the state win the battle against the virus. "We have to control the disease and take care of people of Punjab," Mr Singh said.
"The campaign, which will broaden the ambit of Mission Fateh beyond the frontline workers, will bring the people of Punjab into its fold to make the fight against COVID a battle of the people, by the people and for the people," said the Chief Minister.
13 at Jodhpur dairy plant test COVID-19 positive
13 people working at a dairy plant in Jodhpur have tested positive for COVID-19.
"They were contractual workers and used to work in the garden where wastewater of dairy is utilised. They had not come in contact with packaging or milk. We sanitise the plant five times every day. We are also sanitising the garden and the entire plant," Madan Lal Bagdi, managing director of the Saras dairy plant told news agency ANI.
COVID-19 Lockdown India: Indore Municipal Corporation to stop free ration
With the gradual easing of restrictions, the Indore Municipal Corporation has decided to stop the distribution of free ration to the needy, which had commenced in March when COVID-induced lockdown was put in place.
"We distributed 21-22 lakh packets. Now industrial activities are resuming, PDS shops are opening and unlock 1 has begun, so it's not needed," Municipal Commissioner Pratibha Pal said.
"Since March, Municipal Corporation has distributed ration to thousands of needy. By the end of May, more than 21 lakh ration kits have been distributed," she added.

Migrant labourers in Punjab staged a unique demonstration against the state government on Monday with empty utensils, demanding ration from the government during the lockdown.
They used big empty utensils to showcase how food is being prepared when no ration is available to them.
On the empty utensils, migrants had written, ''Captain ka aata'', ''Captain ki Khichdi'', ''Captain ki roti.''
"These utensils are not empty but filled with the ration given by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh during the lockdown. So we are cooking with that ration and distributing it to people," said a protestor.

Goa government declares Mangor Hill as containment zone
Goa Health Secretary Nila Mohanan on Monday declared Mangor Hill as containment zone after a man and his wife tested positive for Covid-19.
"Two more confirmed case, both members of a family from Mangor-Hill, Vasco. We are doing contact tracing. The Mangor Hill has been declared as containment zone," Mohanan said during a press conference.
In view of the new cases reported, Mohanan said, "Extensive testing of people from Mangor Hill will be carried out." "It is too premature to call this community transmission; we are tracking and locating the history of the cases," she added.
