A schoolgirl has been charged after allegedly attacking a woman at a train station. 

The 14-year-old and and her three friends allegedly ambushed and savagely beat a 23-year-old woman in Brisbane's south on Thursday afternoon.  

She was charged with robbery in company over the alleged attack that occurred at Runcorn Railway Station around 4.30pm, The Courier Mail reported.

The 23-year-old woman was on her way home from work when she allegedly tried to take a picture of the teenagers. 

She was then punched in the face multiple times and sustained a cut lip and facial bruising.

The woman was also knocked to the ground where she was kicked and dragged by her hair.  

Police said they identified the other members of the teen gang but have not formally laid charges. 

They released CCTV images of the schoolgirls in the hopes of speaking to anyone who witnessed the attack. 

Police also encouraged any commuters who had spotted the group to come forward with information.  

Officers from the Morningside child protection unit are continuing the investigation.
