CHANDIGARH: From Tuesday, shops can stay open from 10am to 8pm. Barbers and salons too can lift their shutters after a gap of more than two months. The UT administration announced the relaxations on Monday.
UT adviser Manoj Parida said hotels, restaurants and religious places will open from June 8 as per the guidelines of the ministry of home affairs. Cinema halls, bars and swimming pools will remain closed, he said.
The UT order said, "Government offices will function from 10am to 5.30pm with a lunch break from 1 pm to 1.30 pm with 75% of staff. However, from June 8, the head of the department can call 100% staff if required. General public can meet the officers for their grievance redressal between 11 am and 12 noon, preferably with appointments." On private offices, the order stated, "They will be allowed to call 75% of their staff. However, from June 8, they will be free to call 100% of their staff to the office if needed. Both government and private offices and other enterprises will encourage employees to work from home and avoid travel."
Parida said, "The decision on the number of occupants in four-wheelers and pillion rider on two-wheelers will be taken only on the basis of the ministry's guidelines. As of now it will remain unchanged (3 in car, including driver, and no pillion rider on two-wheeler). We will wait for the government's guidelines."
