Thane: Man held for murdering stepmother

THANE: A 24-year-old tailor from Rabodi was arrested on Saturday for allegedly murdering his 42-year-old stepmother following some financial dispute, last week.
According to senior inspector Rajendra Shirtode, Rabodi police, the accused, Shahnawaz Ansari stayed with his father and his second wife- the deceased. The police said, Ansari had a troubled relation his stepmother and the tension aggravated after the woman allegedly took Rs 90000 from the accused promising him a job abroad and later backed out.
"Due to no income during lockdown, the accused asked his stepmother for money which she refused and instead got him thrown out of the house. In a fit of rage, he hatched a plan to kill her and last Thursday asked her to accompany him for some work in the neighbourhood. He took her in his friend’s auto to an isolated spot in Rabodi where he murdered her and fled with her ornaments," informed Shirotde.
Following a missing complaint filed by her husband, the police tracked CCTV footage of the area and managed to track the deceased and also the accused. The police picked up Ansari from his house, who confessed to the crime and is now remanded to police custody by the court.
