THANE: A day after a Thane civic staffer died due to Covid-19 on his retirement day, his colleagues raised the issue of immediate relocation of all staffers above the age of 55 and with serious ailments from postings in critical locations. The deceased employee, from the tax department, was detected asymptomatic.
He was posted at a quarantine centre. A rough estimate by the Thane civic staffers union shows that a majority of the 1,500 employees above 55 years of age or with ailments, are deployed at critical postings. The union is compiling a list of these staffers, and will approach administration with a request to relocate them at the earliest. The union sought compensation and a job for the tax department employee.
