Mum wows parents with her VERY simple children's movie night 'Kmart hack' using drawer organisers - but some have spotted an issue with her trick

  • The woman posted on Facebook, after buying two Kmart drawer organisers
  • She then filled them with pizza slices, juice, mini ice creams and chips
  • A mum also used the $1.50 ice cube trays for kids snacks at the supermarket

A mother has shared her simple idea for making an at-home movie night a treat for her children, and all you need is two drawer organisers from Kmart.

The woman posted on Facebook, where she revealed that she bought two of the drawer trays at $4.50 each and turned them into 'dinner trays' for her family's movie night.

'Hacked the Kmart office drawer organisers ($4.50 each) to make dinner trays for Family Movie Night. The kids loved them,' the woman named Adele wrote.

And while thousands were impressed with her trick, others pointed out that the ice creams might melt if they were left to be eaten last.

Adele put slices of pizza, mini ice creams, chips and juice in the different compartments of the containers.

The simple idea was a huge hit online, where people said it was an 'awesome idea' and they couldn't wait to try it.

'Can I come around for movie night at your house?' one commenter posted.

'What a great way to up-cycle the trays,' another added.

But not every parent thought the movie night plan would work, with some saying that their children's ice creams would be completely melted by the time they got to the dessert.

'My kids are such slow eaters the ice cream would have had to stay in the freezer until intermission,' one mum wrote.

Another said: 'I love this idea but would leave the wrapper on the ice cream and put a little cold pack under it so it doesn't melt'.

This isn't the first time a Kmart item has been used in an unusual way.

Last year, a mum went viral after she used the $1.50 Kmart ice cube trays as a distraction for her son while she did the supermarket shopping.

Posting on Facebook, Lauren wrote that shopping can often be a distraction when you have your kids with you, as they try and make you throw in extra - and unhealthy - items.

But if you want to shop in peace, all you need to do is pop the children into the seat in the supermarket trolley and attach the ice tray with the two pegs from your pram.

Then, put some snacks such as fruit, cereal, dried fruit and rice cakes topped with yoghurt inside the ice cube tray - and the children should be distracted while you concentrate on shopping for the weekly meal plan.

'When snacks are life, we shop with a whole buffet,' Lauren posted.

'One giant ice cube tray full of snacks and two stroller clips kept my little one happy the entire trip!'
