The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, on Monday, said that the state government will decide on allowing operation of hotel industry and inter-state bus services only after a month.

Speaking to the media on unlocking the lockdown, which was imposed in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, as declared by the central government from June 1, the Chief Minister said that all activities which have been allowed by the Union government will start in Goa from June 8.

He, however, informed that the state government is contemplating to give relaxations to more areas.

“All activities, including restaurants, religious places will be allowed to open from June 8 in the state. About giving relaxation to more areas in Goa, the government is deliberating on it,” he added.

Sawant further said that the government will take decision after the month of June on restarting hotel industry and inter-state bus services.

The Chief Minister also admitted that the state will face a big problem in some major sectors as around 87,000 migrant labourers have left Goa to their native states.

“As 87,000 migrant labourers have left Goa in wake of COVID-19 pandemic, the state will face big challenge in construction, real estate and other major sectors,” he said and appealed that at least now Goans should come forward to take up these labour-category works as the state is facing a shortage of workers.

As regard disbursement of financial assistance to the labourers, the Chief Minister clarified that money has been transferred to the accounts of those labourers and workers who have registered with the labour department.
