Lucky escape for driver as car goes off road in Vasco

A driver of a car had a lucky escape when it went off the road and collided with three other stationary cars, in a freak accident reported on the four lane highway (NH17B) near Shantinagar in Vasco on Monday afternoon.

As per available information from Vasco police, the accident reported at around 1.30 pm, when the ill-fated Tata Aria car, was heading towards Vasco from Dabolim airport. However, when it reached near Shantinagar, the driver lost control over the vehicle. This resulted in the car going off the road and climbing a road divider. The ill-fated car than collided against three stationary cars, involving a Maruti DZire, a Maruti Ritz and a Maruti DZire.

The impact was such that the oil from the ill-fated Tata Aria spilled all over the road, causing a traffic blockage. All the four vehicles involved in the accident were damaged, but the driver of Tata Aria car escaped unhurt.

The Vasco fire station personnel reached the site and cleared the oil on the road, under the supervision of station fire officer Dilip Bicholkar. There was no loss of life. Police head constable Premanand Gaonkar attached to the Vasco police station conducted the panchanama of the accident and is further investigating the case.
